Abell 85

(A85, ACO 85)
(galaxy cluster with central giant elliptical galaxy)

Abell 85 (A85) is a galaxy cluster in the constellation, Cetus, consisting of about 370 galaxies. Its central galaxy is a cD, Holmberg 15A, which hosts one of the most massive known supermassive black holes (SMBHs), Holm 15A* which masses 40 billion solar masses.

Note that Abell's catalog of planetary nebulae (PNe) also includes an entry often referred to as Abell 85 (with SIMBAD's preferred unique designator, it is A66 85). In fact, it is now determined to be not a PN but a supernova remnant.
