(type of compound containing nitrogen)

An Amine is a compound including Nitrogen that is essentially Ammonia (NH3) with one or more of the three Hydrogen atoms that are attached to the nitrogen atom replaced by a group of atoms essentially consisting of "most of a Hydrocarbon". (Whether ammonia should be called an amine is a matter of semantics.) Amino Acids are examples of amines.
