The Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) is a twelve-meter microwave telescope at the Llano de Chajnantor Observatory in the Atacama Desert in Chile, aimed at studying molecular clouds, e.g., observing their 0.2 mm carbon monoxide emission line. It went into operation in 2004. Instruments:
