Arcturus
(fourth brightest star in the sky)
Arcturus is the brightest star in the
constellation Boötes and the
fourth brightest star in the sky.
It is a K1.5 III red giant
with an absolute magnitude of -0.30.
Its mass is slightly more than the Sun's, suggesting it
is a good example of a later phase in the evolution
(the red-giant branch) of stars much like the Sun.
