(binary star system detected by observing the movement of a star)

An astrometric binary is a binary star system where one of the stars cannot be seen but the other one can be observed to be moving as if in orbit, such as through astrometry. It is one of a number binary-star classes based upon how the star is determined to be binary. Others:
