Combined Array for Research in Millimeter-wave Astronomy
(CARMA)
(former array of radio telescopes in eastern California)
The Combined Array for Research in Millimeter-wave Astronomy
(CARMA) was an interferometer array of 23 radio telescopes
at Cedar Flat (near Owens Valley Radio Observatory) in the Inyo Mountains, California,
with a maximum baseline of 2 km.
The array was in operation from 2004 to
2015. It utilized existing telescopes transferred from other
sites and since its decommission, there has been some re-use of the
telescopes.
ALMA (in Chile) is the newer, similar array with improved capability.
