10199 Chariklo
(Chariklo)
(largest minor planet in the outer solar system)
10199 Chariklo is the largest known centaur,
a type of small solar system body in the outer solar system.
It was discovered in 1997 between the orbits of Saturn and
Uranus, its orbit ranging from 13 to 19 AU from the Sun.
Its shape and diameter are not precisely known:
it may be elongated rather than spherical.
Determinations of its diameter have varied somewhat,
within the 200-300 km range, examples being 225 km and 252 km.
Two rings have been detected.
