Earth-sized VLBI

(ground-based VLBI with near-maximal baseline)

Earth-sized VLBI is very-long-baseline interferometry (specifically, electronic very-long-baseline interferometry) using radio telescopes far enough apart for a baseline close to Earth's diameter. The array often consists of existing available telescopes, but its necessary that they have receivers matched in frequency. One such setup included radio telescopes in Chile, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, South Africa, and Sweden.
