G-CLEF

(GMT - CfA Large Earth Finder, GMT-consortium Large Earth Finder, Large Earth Finder)
(spectrograph on the GMT)

G-CLEF (for GMT - CfA Large Earth Finder or GMT-consortium Large Earth Finder) is a visible light spectrograph planned for the Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT) suitable for general purposes, but aimed at the study of extra-solar planets, e.g., determining radial velocities and studying atmospheres through transmission spectroscopy. Commencement of GMT's operation is projected to be in the early 2030s (one projection was to see first light in 2029), and G-CLEF is to be one of its initial set of science instruments.
