GRB-supernova

(GRB-SN, SN-GRB)
(supernova that produces a GRB)

Terms such as GRB-supernova (GRB-SN, SN-GRB) are used for supernovae that produce gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). An increasing number of these are coming to be been identified as the technology to trace the source-location of GRBs has been developed and deployed as have more efficient optical transient searches. Additionally, some evidence of their existence has been discerned in other GRB and supernovae observations, based on their implied energy, their frequency of occurrence, and their light curves. An example is SN 1998bw, presumed to have produced GRB 980425.
