High Definition Space Telescope

(HDST, LOUVOIR-A)
(proposed 12-meter space telescope)

The High Definition Space Telescope (HDST) is a concept for a 12-to-15 meter ultraviolet-through-near infrared space telescope, proposed in 2015 by Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) as the sort of space telescope should follow the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). It would be roughly twice the diameter of the JWST, reside at the Lagrangian point, L2, and presumably be launched in the 2030s. It is one of the specific proposals for LUVOIR (which is just a name coined to be used for whatever is JWST's follow-on).
