(1977 X-ray observatory space mission)
The High Energy Astronomy Observatory 1 (HEAO-1) was a NASA
spacecraft observing X-rays.
It was launched in 1977 and functioned until 1979.
Among its accomplishments were X-ray sky surveys, such as the
HEAO A-1 X-ray Source Catalog.
Instruments included:
- LASS (aka A1) - Large-area Sky Survey.
- CXE (aka A2) - Cosmic X-ray Experiment.
- MC (aka A3) - Modulation Collimator.
- Hard X-ray / Low Energy gamma-ray Experiment (aka A4).
