HFLS3
(HFLS3, HerMES J170647.8+584623)
(very distant starburst galaxy)
HFLS3 (HFLS3, HerMES J170647.8+584623)
is a high-redshift starburst galaxy with
an extremely high star formation rate (3000 solar masses per year).
The galaxy was discovered in Herschel data, and
its redshift was identified in 2013.
Its redshift of z = 6.34 places it at 880 million
years cosmic time. It is 10-30 times more massive
than previously known galaxies at its time.
