hot DOG
(hot dust-obscured galaxy, hot dust-obscured object)
(high-energy galaxy with a lot of dust)
The term hot DOG
(for hot dust-obscured galaxy
or hot dust-obscured object)
was used for about 1000 galaxies observed by WISE
that each have a thousand times the electromagnetic radiation (EMR) as the Milky Way,
and redshifts in the 2-to-4 range
(corresponding to ~10 billion years ago).
They may be obscured quasars/active galactic nuclei.
The name stems from the acronym DOG,
used for dust-obscured galaxy.
(galaxy type,dust)
