The Hartle-Thorne metric (HT metric or Hartle-Thorne approximation) is a metric that approximates a general relativity solution for the surface of a slowly-rotating rigid body. The metric was developed in the late 1960s by James Hartle and Kip Thorne. It has been used modeling neutron stars.
