IRTS
(InfraRed Telescope in Space)
(15-cm infrared telescope on Japanese satellite)
IRTS (for Infrared Telescope in Space) was a Japanese 15-cm
infrared space telescope launched in 1995.
It was part of a multi-purpose satellite, the SFU (for Space Flyer Unit).
It was cryogenically cooled, aiming to operate for 20
days, and operated for 28, surveying about 7% of the sky.
Instruments:
The instruments operated simultaneously.
Observations were within the 1-1000 micron range.
