Keck Planet Imager and Characterizer
(KPIC)
(extreme AO upgrade under development for Keck)
The Keck Planet Imager and Characterizer (KPIC) is an
extreme adaptive optics system for Keck Observatory's NIRSPEC infrared
spectrometer on Keck II, installed in 2018. It carries out
speckle suppression, "cleaning up" incoming infrared, intending
to make it possible to observe infrared from young gas giant
extra-solar planets.
