Large Zenith Telescope

(LZT)
(6 meter liquid mirror telescope in British Columbia)

The Large Zenith Telescope (LZT) was a 6 meter liquid-mirror reflector telescope in British Columbia, Canada, completed in 2003 and decommissioned around 2016. The LZT took advantage of the lesser expense of a liquid mirror, forgoing the exacting work and expense required constructing other types of mirrors, trading that off for the limitation of viewing only very close to vertically. Parts of it were recycled from the earlier liquid mirror telescope at the NASA Orbital Debris Observatory.
