The Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy (MPIR) is a German astrophysics research institution that is part of the Max Planck Society. It was founded in 1972 and is located in Bonn, Germany, doing research using radio astronomy, including very-long-baseline interferometry (VLBI) and millimeter astronomy into the infrared. It operates a graduate program in cooperation with the University of Bonn and the University of Cologne.
