Midcourse Space Experiment
(MSX)
(1990s space telescope)
The Midcourse Space Experiment (MSX) was a US defense telescope
with infrared and ultraviolet capability. Its purpose was
experimentation with defensive technology and it doubled as
an astronomical satellite with data contributed to NASA astronomical
data repositories.
Among its instruments was
SPIRIT III ("Space Infrared Imaging Telescope"),
a 33 cm telescope.
