non-Gaussian

(NG)
(something requiring adjustment from the Gaussian function)

Non-Gaussian (NG) indicates divergence from the Gaussian function. The CMB anisotropies, for example are approximately Gaussian, but at some level of detail, may diverge. This is currently expected, as a consequence of inflation and as an explanation for the development of gas clouds, galaxy clusters, etc. This is known as primordial non-Gaussianity.
