Pulsating Star

(variable star that varies through energy pulses)

A Pulsating Star is a Variable Star that varies because of pulses in energy release, i.e., Stellar Pulsation. Layers of such a star expand and contract in an oscillation rather than settle into Hydrostatic Equilibrium. Within this class are Cepheid Variables, RR Lyrae Variables and Delta Scuti Variables.
