RATAN-600

(Radio Astronomical Telescope Academy Nauk 600)
(ring-shaped radio telescope in Russia)

RATAN-600 (for Radio Astronomical Telescope Academy Nauk 600) is a radio telescope in Zelenchukskaya, Russia, consisting of a ring of reflectors 576 meters in diameter (i.e., the reflectors are only at the perimeter of the circle) that can be individually adjusted to reflect the radio signal to its receivers, optionally indirectly through more reflectors. This configuration gives it the angular resolution of a 576-meter dish but with a collecting area on the order of 1000 square meters.
