The Rapid Eye Mount Telescope (REM)
is a 60-cm reflector telescope at La Silla Observatory
with the purpose of catching the afterglow of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs).
To accomplish this, it is automated and designed
to slew and aim quickly, and begin taking data within

It began operation in 2002.
