(catalog of HII regions found on Palomar plates)

The Sharpless Catalog is a list of HII regions assembled by Stewart Sharpless in the 1950s from Palomar Observatory Sky Survey (POSS) plates. The second/final edition of 1959 included 312 such nebulae (including all of the earlier 1953 catalog except for two sources which had since been identified as something other than HII regions).
