SIMP

(Sondage Infrarouge de Mouvement Propre)
(2000s infrared proper-motion survey)

SIMP (for Sondage Infrarouge de Mouvement Propre) was a survey in the near infrared, which began observation in 2005, with the aim of determining the proper motion of stars through comparison with earlier Two Micron All-sky Survey (2MASS) observations. It was carried out with a newer, more sensitive survey imager (CPAPIR, for "Camera Panoramique Proche Infrarouge") giving it an increased survey depth and it discovered additional sources.
