SPIRou (for Spectropolarimètre infrarouge) is a near infrared spectrograph/polarimeter (spectropolarimeter) on the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) for radial velocity measurements to detect and investigate extra-solar planets. (Interest is high regarding exoplanets around red dwarfs, for which infrared spectrography is helpful.)
The SPIRou Legacy Survey (SLS) is an astronomical survey aiming make use of considerable SPIRou time to check nearby M dwarfs for RV measurements indicating planets, to follow up on TOIs, and to collect data on magnetic fields of protostars for learning more about their contribution to planet formation.
