T Pyxidis
(T Pyx)
(well-known recurrent nova)
T Pyxidis (T Pyx) is a recurrent nova within the Milky Way
which has erupted three times in the last hundred years, in 1944,
1967, and 2011, the latter which resulted in considerable observation
and research.
It is a binary star that includes a white dwarf and is considered
a potential progenitor for a Type Ia supernova.
Another such Milky-Way recurrent nova is IM Normae (IM Nor)
which erupted in 1920 and 2002.
