Uranus Orbiter and Probe

(concept for mission to Uranus)

The Uranus Orbiter and Probe is the current name for a concept in development for a mission to Uranus to be launch in the early 2030s, to place a probe in orbit and send a companion probe into the atmosphere. That general launch time takes advantage of a launch window for using a Jupiter gravity assist, a particular window that won't recur for more than a decade. Suggested orbiter instruments:

The only previous spacecraft to visit Uranus was a 1986 flyby by Voyager 2.
