Wind

Wind (an earlier name was Interplanetary Physics Laboratory) is a spacecraft launched by NASA to observe the solar wind. It was launched in 1994, began its operation in an eccentric Earth orbit, was moved to the L1 Lagrangian point in 2004, and operates with enough fuel to continue into the 2070s. Instruments:

• PLASMA aka 3DP "Three-Dimensional Plasma analyzer".
• TGRS "Transient Gamma-ray Spectrometer".
• MFI "Magnetic Field Investigation".
• WAVES - Plasma and Radio waves experiment.
• SWE "Solar Wind Experiment".
• EPACT "Energetic Particle Acceleration, Composition and Transport experiment".
• SMS aka SWICS/STICS "Solar Wind and Suprathermal Ion Composition Studies experiment".
• KONUS - Gamma Ray Burst Detector.

KONUS was developed by Russia and analogous instruments named KONUS were used on other Russian missions.
