Am star

(metallic-line star)
(A-type star with metallic lines)

An Am star is an A-type star that has other than the usual metal absorption lines, having more strength in the zinc, strontium, zirconium, and barium spectral lines and less for calcium and scandium. One cause seems to be slower than typical rotation, possibly due to a binary companion. Sirius A is an Am star.
