The Cosmic Assembly Near-infrared DeepExtragalacticLegacy Survey
(CANDELS) was a survey in the near infrared
of high-redshiftgalaxies and Type Ia supernovae.
It was carried out in 2010-2013, with HST's WFC3 sensor
for near infrared as well as its opticalACS camera.
Observation data was gathered on many early galaxies and supernovae,
for investigating the shape of space, i.e., degree
of expansion as well as map the density variations.
More than 250,000 galaxies were imaged, spanning redshifts 1.5 to 8.
