Diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) are absorption
bands that are clearly due to some kind of ISM
absorption, evident while observing astronomical objects.
They are now attributed to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and similar carbon
molecules. Buckminsterfullerene (C60) has been
identified in some.
