DISORT

(Discrete Ordinates Radiative Transfer)
(simulation of radiative transfer in an atmosphere)

DISORT (Discrete Ordinates Radiative Transfer) is a radiative transfer code (RT code) for atmospheres. It is incorporated into atmospheric models that include radiative transfer. I believe it was originally implemented in Fortran, and has since be reimplemented in other programming languages, e.g., CDISORT in c and PyDISORT in Python. My impression is that DISORT was developed to model Earth atmosphere and can be adapted to atmospheres of other planets with some range of temperatures. I'm not sure if DISORT is of any use for very hot planets (e.g., hot Jupiters), brown dwarfs, or stars.
