(aberration where the image is in focus but misshaped)
Distortion is a flaw in the image (aberration)
of an optical instrument
such as a telescope, which does not affect the focus
but changes shapes, e.g.,
forming its image of a perfect square that has curved
edges rather than straight.
Two examples are pincushion distortion and barrel distortion.
