Speckle imaging indicates use of techniques maximize the resolution of a telescope's images in the face of atmospheric distortion from seeing issues (a type of speckle). A speckle imager is an imager (camera) designed for such imaging.
A basic method uses numerous images are taken at relatively short exposures and uses image processing to produce a more detailed image likely to match what the image would be without the distortion. A straightforward process called shift-and-add aka image stacking can be used, or a type of interferometry called speckle masking. Lucky imaging is a variant.
