A HI supershell is a supershell found through detection of surrounding dense HI regions. It can be thought of as a particular pattern in the placement of HI within galaxies, and as a signature for the presence of a supershell. The HI regions are presumed to have been formed and/or positioned by the expanding front of the shell.
