LEDA (for Lyon-Meudon Extragalactic Database) was a database (online catalog) with observation data of more than 90,000 galaxies, begun in 1983. It was the basis for the later 1989 Principal Galaxies Catalog (PGC). A more recent version now online is HyperLEDA, a web-accessible database of over a million galaxies plus other extragalactic objects. The three use the same numbering, e.g., PGC 2557 and LEDA 2557 both indicate Andromeda, though HyperLEDA maintainers recommend using J2000 coordinates to identify an entry.
The acronym LEDA is also used for the Large Aperture Experiment to Explore the Dark Ages, a 21-cm experiment using a purpose-built correlator fed from the Long Wavelength Array (LWA) and OVRO-LWA antennas.
Leda, a character in Greek mythology, is also the name of one of Jupiter's moons.
