Milagro

(gamma ray telescope using Cherenkov radiation)

Milagro was a Cherenkov gamma-ray telescope at the Fenton Hill Observatory (FHO) in New Mexico operating from about 1999 to 2008, looking to record gamma-ray (GR) photons by detecting the resulting Cherenkov radiation in a pond. It was located at an altitude of 2530 meters and was designed to record GR photons in the TeV range.
