(gamma ray telescope using Cherenkov radiation)

Milagro was a ground-based gamma-ray telescope at the Fenton Hill Observatory in New Mexico operating from about 1999 to 2008, looking to record gamma-ray photons by catching the resulting Cherenkov radiation in a pond. It was located at an altitude of 2530m and aimed at photons in the TeV range.
