The Milky Way galaxy subgroup consists of the Milky Way and its satellite galaxies. Exact lists and counts vary because questions remain regarding the classification of the object, i.e., galaxy versus globular cluster or stellar stream, etc., and future observation may improve estimates of distances and velocity, which are used to determine whether a galaxy is a Milky Way satellite.
