Neptune desert

(hot-Neptune desert, Neptunian desert)
(Neptune-like exoplanets near host star are rare)

The term Neptune desert (aka hot-Neptune desert) is used for the low abundance of hot Neptunes (extra-solar planets of roughly Neptune-size orbiting very close to the host star, thus with a high temperature) i.e., a smaller relative abundance than hot Jupiters or hot Earths. The discovery of a hot Neptune attracts some research interest due to this overall trend.
