Pantheon or the Pantheon sample or the Pantheon supernovae is a catalog of 1048 Type Ia supernovae that have been carefully checked to confirm the type and redshift. A key goal was to assemble a quality sample including further redshifts, specifically to include the range beyond z = 1 (to 2) that is more challenging to cover and was not reasonably covered by earlier cosmological surveys. The supernovae are from a number of surveys, including Pan-STARRS, the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), the Supernova Legacy Survey (SNLS), and the Carnegie Supernova Project (CSP).
