Parkes Observatory

Parkes Observatory, in Australia, is primarily the home of the Parkes 64m (Radio) Telescope which began operation in 1963. The telescope was given the official name Murriyang in 2020, and through its life, it has also been known as the Parkes 210ft (Radio) Telescope. References to Parkes Observatory generally refer to this telescope. Current instruments (receivers):

• UWL - Ultra Wideband Low receiver (704-4032 MHz)
• METH6 (about 4.7 cm)
• MARS (3 cm)
• 13MM (1.3 cm)

• MPI PAF - MPI(Max Planck Institute for Astronomy) phased array feed (17-50 cm)
• 1050cm (10 and 50 cm wavelength)

• H-OH (21 and 18 cm)
• GALILEO (13 cm)

The telescope has also been used for communication with spacecraft. The observatory also has a smaller (18-meter) movable dish to perform interferometry in conjunction with the 64 meter dish, but it is no longer in use. The site has also hosted a 12-meter ASKAP prototype dish.
