Plateau de Bure Interferometer

(PdBI)
(6-dish interferometer in French Alps)

The Plateau de Bure Interferometer (PdBI) is a microwave interferometer on the Plateau de Bure (altitude, 2550m) in the French Alps operated by the Institut de radioastronomie millimétrique. It has six 15m antennas and observes using bands at 3, 2, 1.8, and 0.8 mm. It can resolve images to 1 arcsecond.

PdBI is being expanded into the Northern Extended Millimeter Array (NOEMA), which will eventually include six more 15m antennas and offer longer baselines. As of 2018, ten antennas are in operation.
