POLARBEAR
(POLARBEAR-1)
(instrument to map CMB polarization)
POLARBEAR is a project to detect CMB polarization, specifically
B-modes (one of the two polarization modes), which are expected
to be influenced by primordial gravitational waves. The original instrument
(now termed POLARBEAR-1) was mounted in the Huan Tran Telescope
(HTT) at the Llano de Chajnantor Observatory on the Atacama Desert
in Chile. Data was collected from 2012-2016.
POLARBEAR-2 (PB-2) is a second generation, consisting of three new
instruments, mounted on the HTT and two additional identical
telescopes, the three telescopes termed the Simons Array.
