SCAP

(1980s balloon-borne ultraviolet telescope)

SCAP (for Schmidt-Cassegrain anastigmat á champ plan, i.e., "Schmidt-Cassegrain flat field anastigmat"), was a French/Swiss 130 mm ultraviolet (UV) balloon-borne telescope with a large field of view, which was used in the 1970s/1980s. Two generations were known as SCAP-1909 and SCAP-2000, the latter taking advantage of the 2000 angstrom UV atmospheric window available in the upper atmosphere.
