VERA
(VLBI Exploration of Radio Astrometry)
(VLBI project to map the Milky Way)
VERA for (VLBI Exploration of Radio Astrometry)
is a Japanese very-long-baseline interferometry (VLBI) array for mapping the Milky Way.
VLBI yields the most distant possible parallax
measurements from galactic radio sources due to its high angular resolution.
The array includes four Japanese radio telescopes with
baselines up to 2300 km and has been in operation since
2003.
