warp

(galaxy warp)
(bend in the otherwise-flat disk of a galaxy)

A warp (galaxy warp) is a bend in a type of galaxy that is (generally) flat such as a spiral galaxy or other disk galaxy. They present a challenge to modern astrophysics, but are generally attributed to gravitational interaction with nearby satellite galaxies. The Milky Way has at least one warp.
