Monoceros Ring
(Monoceros Tidal Stream)
(stellar stream wrapping around the Milky Way)
The Monoceros Ring is a stellar stream that wraps
around the Milky Way three times.
It was identified in Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) data in 2002.
There is some nomenclature controversy: some consider
it a warped outer portion of the Milky-Way galactic disk.
