WISE 0855-0714

WISE 0855-0714 is a substellar object discovered in 2013, within data from the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE). It is one of the few free-floating planets discovered. Characteristics:

• Hydra - constellation.
• 08h55m10.83s - right ascension.
• -07deg14m42.5s - declination.
• +25.00 - apparent magnitude (J band).
• 7.43 ly - distance.
• Y4V - spectral type.
• 285 K - temperature (from ATMO modelling, ~12 °C or ~53 °F).
• 3-10 Jupiter masses.
• 8 arcseconds/year - proper motion.

Given this determined temperature (lower than Earth's) and mass (below the range of brown dwarf), it is determined to be a planet-like object rather than a star, for which a number of terms are used, among them, sub-brown dwarf and isolated PMO.
